Blogger’s Block
Blogging is a simple concept. The post should be either informative or entertaining and the best are both. It should be written in a way that speaks to the masses while speaking directly to the reader. Most importantly, it should sound like something the writer would actually say. The best blogs read as if the reader is listening to a friendly conversation. Of course, there are blogs that sound like a training manual or a textbook– at least, there’s a rumor that those kinds of blogs exist. So, if blogging is just the written ‘spoken word’, why are they so hard to maintain?
Starting a blog is easy and often done with the best intentions. Editorial calendars are developed, topics are discussed, creativity skyrockets, and then the blank page staring back wins. So we wait, ponder, wait, start a post, delete a post, then time passes and we insist that our NEXT post has to be great due to the time that has passed since the last post.
What can be done–what should be done? Just like any large task, blogging should be broken down into bite-size, carpe diem pieces. Step away from that editorial calendar, move away from the detailed plan for blogging and just write. Write for today. Today’s post may be 500 words or 50; it doesn’t matter– just write. Tomorrow is another post and another topic– scratch that, let’s not think about tomorrow’s post.
Another option to consider is ghost blogging services. Ghost bloggers are professional writers that help maintain blogs by writing posts on behalf of the blog owner. Interested in learning more about ghost blogging services? Email us at info@bizadigm.com.
